I’m pretty sure that most of us bloggers have felt unhappy or stuck in a rut with our blogs at one point. I’ve been there myself but managed to get past it, so if you’re feeling the same way then this post is for you. Maybe you feel that your content could be improved, you wish that your blog was progressing faster or you just feel totally unmotivated. Here are six tips on how to stay happy with your blog that I’ve found very helpful in the past:
1. Write About What You Love
Only create content you love. There’s no point in writing about a topic just because it’s popular or reviewing a product just because everyone else is – your readers will be able to pick up on your halfheartedness. You’re more likely to keep your readers engaged by writing about the topics you are truly passionate about. Don’t hesitate to introduce new topics to your blog too!
2. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others
It’s way too easy to fall into the comparison game in the blogging world. There’s countless fantastic blogs out there with brilliant content and photography, but you shouldn’t let that get you down. Instead, focus on you. Keep blogging, set yourself goals and kick that blogger envy to the curb!
3. Don’t Obsess Over Numbers
Although it’s a good idea to look at your blog statistics every now and then, you shouldn’t obsess over the numbers too much. Just because you don’t have 10,000 followers doesn’t mean that your blog is a failure. Keep working hard and appreciate the followers you do have.
4. Engage With Your Readers
Replying to comments and interacting with your readers via social media is another good way to stay happy with your blog. It always feels great to know that people are appreciating your work! I personally like to take the time to visit the blogs of those who leave me comments on my posts.
5. Be Proud of Your Blog
Allow yourself to feel proud of your blog. Running a blog takes a lot of hard work and effort. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’ve gained a lot of skills since I started this blog at the end of 2012. Not only does blogging improve your writing skills, you also end up developing your photography and marketing skills as well as plenty more.
6. Enjoy It!
Remember that blogging is meant to be fun! So, when things do get stressful, remind yourself why you started in the first place.
