What you do in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. For that reason, it’s very important to start the day off right. Here are a few ways to kick-start your morning that will leave you feeling positive, energised and ready to take on the day…
Wake Up Early – I know it’s all too tempting to hit the snooze button and get some extra beauty sleep, but don’t do it! Prolonged wake up can actually make you more tired. Waking up early has numerous benefits; you get to avoid the stress of getting ready in a rush, it gives you more time to achieve all of the things you want to and results in more productivity.
Be Thankful – Every morning, take some time to be thankful for all of the things you have in your life (your family, your health, the roof over your head). Starting the day with gratitude makes all the difference; it teaches your mind to focus on the good rather than the bad and is the key to living a happy and fulfilled life.
Set Your Goals For The Day – Write out a short to-do list of the things you want to accomplish on that day. This will keep you motivated and your routine will be enhanced as your time will be spent more wisely and efficiently. To get a head start on your day, you could always write this list the night before.
Exercise – Now I know what you’re thinking – who has time to exercise in the morning? It can be difficult to find the time, but incorporating a small amount of exercise in your morning routine has many benefits. It helps boost your mood, gives you more energy and increases your productivity throughout the whole day. You don’t have to do a strenuous workout; just doing some stretches or going on a short walk will greatly benefit your health.
Have a Healthy Breakfast – As I’m sure you’ve all heard before, breakfast is the most important meal because it fuels you up for the day. A balanced breakfast incorporates at least three different food groups. Personal favourites of mine include eggs and toast with a glass of orange juice; a bowl of cereal with almond milk and some yoghurt; and french toast and fruit. It’s very important to choose meals that will give you plenty of energy and keep you satisfied until lunch time.
What do you do to start the day positively? I’d love to hear about it!
